Old Post Ofiice - Rehoboth, MA

The Old Post Office, Rehoboth, MA was moved to its current location in 1880 and has served as a trolley stop, general store, gas station and until 1984, the town's post office. It was then sold and converted to a private residence. During its lifetime, it has been added on to multiple times but most of the main structure, including the fieldstone foundation remain beneath all the additions and remodels. Portions of the original wood framing and sheathing were repurposed during this latest remodel for built-ins and finish moulding. The series of photos featured in this project gallery follow the latest round of remodels by the current owners built by Do It All Construtcion. The 2nd photo features the home as it looked when the current owners (only the 2nd owners since the home was converted from a post office) purchased it.

This latest remodel was kicked off with the addition of an enclosed entryway and expansion of a second floor bedroom done by another contractor who was tasked only with the rough framing and enclosing the addition. Because of Do It All's approach to remodels, it was at this point the current homeowners contacted Steve to help with other portions of the remodel.

Steve has helped make the homeowner's visions of this very storied little structure's remodel come to life, maintaining its unique character and charm using modern materials and building techniques. Featured in this series of photos and using the homeowners' designs, Steve's work includes:

- Replacing all the windows on the home's facade

- A custom built front door, arched overhang clad with a single piece of copper with a 5" house-side flange Steve hand hammered into shape

- Exterior utility shed attached to the front of the house that hides the incoming electric, cable and phone utilites and outdoor lighting controls that also includes a copper-clad rooftop

- Hemlock clapboard siding

- Tongue and groove barn board siding around the front entry

As this remodel continues on, Do It All Construction remains as the primary consultant and contractor to the homeowners. As portions of the interior work are completed, more photos will be added to show the various work that has been performed from start to finish.
